About EnergyCalc UK
EnergyCalc UK is a simple calculator website designed to help people estimate the electricity cost of everyday appliances.
What the site does
Each calculator converts appliance energy use and your electricity unit rate into estimated running costs. Where possible, you can enter figures from your own appliance label and tariff rather than relying on generic assumptions.
How calculations are handled
Energy-per-cycle appliances use kWh per cycle. Wattage-based appliances convert watts and time into kWh. EV charging additionally allows for the percentage of battery added and charging efficiency.
Important limitation
The results are estimates, not bills or guarantees. Real consumption can change with appliance settings, efficiency, temperature, load, cycling behaviour and tariff structure.
Electricity-rate source
The site's current default is 26.11p/kWh for 1 July–30 September 2026, based on Ofgem's published average Direct Debit unit rate for a standard variable tariff. Users can replace it with their own rate.
