How is the dishwasher cycle running cost calculated?

The calculation multiplies electricity used for one dishwasher cycle by the price you pay for each kilowatt-hour of electricity.

Cost per dishwasher cycle = Energy used per cycle × Electricity price

With the default example, 0.85 kWh × £0.2611 = £0.2219, or about 22p for one dishwasher cycle.

Where can I find the energy usage?

Dishwasher energy labels commonly state electricity use per 100 eco cycles. Divide that value by 100 to estimate kWh for one eco cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the eco programme reduce electricity use?

Eco programmes are designed to reduce resource use, often by using lower temperatures and longer cycle times. Actual use depends on the model.

Does this include water cost?

No. This calculator estimates electricity only.

Should I enter kWh per 100 cycles?

Enter the figure for one cycle. If your label shows 100 cycles, divide that number by 100 first.

Why might my real bill differ?

Tariff, programme choice, water heating, load and appliance efficiency can change actual cost.
