How is the cost calculated?

Rated power in watts is converted to kilowatts, then multiplied by the time used in hours. That gives an estimated kWh figure for one use.

kWh per use = (Watts ÷ 1,000) × (Minutes ÷ 60)
Cost per use = kWh per use × Electricity price

This is a simple estimate. Appliances with thermostats or variable power may draw less than their maximum rated wattage for part of the time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does an oven draw full power for the whole cooking time?

Not always. Thermostats cycle heating elements on and off, so this wattage-based method is an upper-style estimate unless you know average measured power.

Does preheating matter?

Yes. Preheating adds energy use. Include it in the minutes if you want it reflected in the estimate.

Can fan ovens use less energy?

They can sometimes cook at lower temperatures or for shorter times, but actual savings depend on the appliance and recipe.
